چکیده

Purpose: To investigate the in vitro antidiabetic, aphrodisiac and antimicrobial properties of para-propoxybenzoic acid isolated from Acacia auriculiformis stem bark.
Methods: Powdered dried bark A. was extracted with 70 % ethanol water extract obtained suspended partitioned ethyl acetate n-butanol to give their respective soluble fractions. The fraction being more active, terms in-vitro aphrodisiac, antidiabetic properties, subjected chromatographic separation obtain C1 identified as parapropoxybenzoic acid, which also evaluated for using standard procedures.
Results: 4-Propoxybenzoic showed a weak property not significantly different (p < 0.05) that control (normal saline) all sexual parameters tested. compound exhibited activity by dose-dependently inhibiting actions α-amylase half-maximal concentration (IC50) value 50 ± 0.45 μg/mL. In this regard, it comparable standard, acarbose (30 0.18 μg/mL). study, 200 μg/mL gave highest zone inhibition 18 0.23 mm against Vibo cholriae (NCTC 5438)
Conclusion: results indicate compound, 4-propoxybenzoic, exhibits good anti-microbial but properties.

Enhancement of membrane damage by saponins isolated from Acacia auriculiformis.

Acaciaside A and B, two acylated triterpenoid bisglycosides isolated from the funicles of Acacia auriculiformis, are known to have antihelmintic activity. Since the saponins contain a conjugated unsaturated system that is highly susceptible to peroxidation, we investigated the interaction of saponins and membrane using rat liver microsomes as our model. Microsomal membranes were incubated with ...

Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Activities of Careya arborea Roxb. Stem Bark

The present study was carried out to evaluate the antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of methanol extract of Careya arborea (MECA) stem barks (Myrtaceae) in various in-vitro systems. Antimicrobial activities of MECA were carried out using disc diffusion methods with Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and some fungal species. MECA showed broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against a...
